Where It All Began

Long before there were flower gardens, zinnias, or sunset photos, there was a little country church standing quietly on the North Dakota prairie.

Built in 1912, St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church faithfully served the farming community around Jud, North Dakota for generations. It witnessed baptisms, weddings, funerals, and countless Sunday mornings before its doors eventually closed and it waited for someone willing to write its next chapter.

In 2020, during a year when so many people were rethinking their lives, I took over the restoration of this little prairie church. What began as an old building quickly became something much bigger—a long-term commitment to preserving its history while creating a place filled with flowers, restorations projects, and everyday beauty.

Today, The Little Wooden Church is about honoring the church’s history while creating something new. Every flower bed, every repaired window, every fresh coat of paint, and every project is another step toward bringing this historic landmark to life.

This website is where I share that journey—the victories, the setbacks, the gardens, the restoration, and the everyday beauty of saving an old country church.

History isn’t just preserved here.

It’s blooming again.
